Residents at Tyspane Care Home in Braunton
Residents and staff at Barchester’s Tyspane Care Home in Braunton showcased their collective general knowledge as they participated in the inaugural Barchester Big Quiz of the Year.
The event brought together more than 250 Barchester care homes and hospitals from across the UK, including Wales, Scotland, Jersey, and the Isle of Wight.
Tyspane Care Home, part of Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, offers nursing care, residential care, and respite care. The quiz event aimed to bring together residents from different homes for an enjoyable and intellectually stimulating experience.
The competitive spirit was alive at Tyspane Care Home as they vied for the title of Barchester’s quiz champions against sister homes nationwide. The quiz, held on January 9, covered a range of topics from historical humdingers and musical musings to pictorial puzzlers and connective conundrums.
Aime Bown, general manager at Tyspane Care Home, said she was proud of the home’s quizzing abilities and added: “We’ve got some excellent quizzers at our home; we are very competitive. Our residents love taking part in anything where winning is involved, and collectively their general knowledge is pretty phenomenal!”
David Prior, a resident at Tyspane, also added: “That was such fun, 29 out of 30, not bad. I do hope this becomes a regular event.”
