Worth the wait for Holsworthy Magpies

Holsworthy beat Dobwalls in SWPL

Holsworthy have waited a month to get back out on the football pitch and the belated return resulted in a battling 1-0 win over Dobwalls in the West Division of the South West Peninsula League.

Rain and frost have combined to leave the Magpies without a game for far too long, but there was still a sharpness in Holsworthy’s performance, particularly in defence. Jedd Peschke scored the only goal of the game, moving his side up to seventh in the table and level on points with Dobwalls.

The Magpies also have games in hand on the sides above them and, while Liskeard are runaway leaders at the top, it is not beyond the realms of possibility for Holsworthy to break into the top three.

Holsworthy travel to mid-table Bude Town on Boxing Day and start the New Year with a visit from Wendron United on January 6.
