Leaders beaten in rugby West Division

In-form Tiverton upset Tribute South West League Western West Division leaders Plymstock Albion Oaks on their own ground to keep their promotion hopes very much alive as most rivals sat out a ‘bye’ round.

It was Tivvy’s fifth win in six games, and another victory at home to Bideford this Saturday could do them even more good.

PAO still lead with 43pts, from Kingsbridge 42, Tiverton 34 and Paignton 33, but the top-two meet in Plymouth this weekend...

Much-improved Paignton are in similarly good form after beating St Ives 59-31, and they travel to Pirates Amateurs next.

Sidmouth are the latest side to top the Regional Two table, after they won their game in hand at Chard 32-15.

It’s still so tight there – just before the halfway stage of the season Sidmouth lead with 42pts from Crediton 40, Wadebridge Camels 39, Topsham 36, Cullompton 33 and North Petherton 33.

Topsham-v-Crediton this Saturday looks like the game of the day in that division.

In Regional One, Brixham’s strong home form held up under a challenge from Launceston – the Fishermen won 46-31 at Astley Park.

Chew Valley (42) still lead from Barnstaple and Devonport Services (40), with Launceston (34) fourth and Brixham (32) up to fifth.

Barum go to St Austell this Saturday, while Okehampton host Brixham.

Barnstaple 2nds tightened things up in Counties Two Devon with a 43-7 win at Exeter Saracens. Torquay Athletic have 42pts, Devonport Services 2nds and Barnstaple 2nds both 39 and Withycombe 31.
