Looking to get into the Christmas spirit this December? North Devon Hospice Chef Chrissie explains why the hospice’s Festive Afternoon Tea is the perfect treat to kick-start your Christmas!

I don’t know about you but one of my favourite things about Christmas is the food. At this special time of year, many of us are lucky enough to enjoy a delicious selection of seasonal goodies that make the festive season even merrier.

From freshly baked mince pies and boozy Christmas cake to a hearty Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, for me, there really is nothing like festive food!

Here at your local hospice, we’ll be serving all kinds of scrumptious treats throughout the holiday season to bring comfort and joy to our patients, families, and staff.

But today, I want to invite you to join us for one of the most special occasions in our hospice Christmas calendar – our Festive Afternoon Teas!

For just £30 per couple, you can savour a sumptuous range of seasonal treats homemade freshly for you and served in our warm and welcoming Terrace Café.

From sandwiches and pastries to mince pies, sweets, and scones, your three-tiered cake stand will be decked with an amazing assortment of festive favourites, all lovingly prepared in the heart of our hospice kitchen by the Catering Team and I.

Enjoy a warming cup of unlimited tea or coffee alongside this festive feast (on proper china, of course!) or wash it down with an upgraded glass of mulled wine or Prosecco. What better time for a tipple than Christmas?

As well as soaking up the festive atmosphere of the Terrace Café, you’ll also be wowed by the calming views of our beautiful hospice gardens while enjoying this decadent winter warmer.

If you’d like to take a relaxing stroll through these gorgeous grounds during your visit to help that extra mince pie settle, you’re more than welcome to do so! Spy our quaint ‘Kitchen Garden’ packed full of winter crops, explore the winding pathways, and watch visiting wildlife thrive down by our tranquil pond.
