Barnstaple Rugby Football Club (BRFC) has received £3,000 to support its grassroots rugby from house builders Vistry Group.
Barnstaple RFC is almost 150 years old and has two senior teams, as well as the colts, under 15s and under 18s girls, plus a strong junior section with over 240 players – from under 7s to under 16s.
Benn Coley, treasurer at Barnstaple RFC, said: “Vistry’s new sponsorship package is invaluable to Barnstaple RFC. Their association with the club will be a vital part of our success over the course of this season as we seek to gain promotion back up into the National second division of rugby in England.
“The sponsorship has allowed us to further invest in our facilities, kit, equipment and players at our club. It’s been a great first year and we look forward to our continued partnership.”
Paul Moran, regional managing director at Vistry South West, commented: “We’re delighted to sponsor Barnstaple RFC and provide much-needed funds to the club.
“Grassroots rugby is at the heart of the community and I know first-hand how important the sport is – not just for fitness, but for friendship, resilience and mental health. Whether you’re euphoric after a win or supporting your team mates – while covered in mud in the pouring rain – after being defeated, rugby brings so much to its players, their families and the spectators.
“There is an army of strong coaches and loyal players, so we’re pleased to support them as the club grows and facilities are improved. We’re following their progress this season and wish them all the best this year!”
The housebuilder is creating homes locally at Bay View in Northam, Cherry Fields in Bickington and The Pastures in Bideford.
