Families wanting to make some magical memories this Halloween are being invited to explore the ‘spooktacular’ Children’s Trail around the autumnal gardens at North Devon Hospice in Barnstaple.

The perfect half-term activity, the hospice’s spooky trail will be open to the public from Monday, October 23 until Friday, October 27 between 9am and 5pm, with some wicked fun for the whole family.

As well as magical lights and decorations, visitors will be able to enjoy a photo opportunity among cobweb-covered hay bales and glowing pumpkins before collecting their Halloween-themed gift after completing the trail.

On Halloween night itself (Tuesday, October 31) between 5pm and 7pm, there will be even more tricks and treats in store for visitors including face painting, Halloween hot dogs, pumpkin soup, and other tasty treats available from the hospice’s Terrace Café.

James Bayliss, facilities co-ordinator at North Devon Hospice, said this was a fantastic opportunity to welcome members of the community to enjoy some fun for free this Halloween.

He said: “While our Children’s Trail is open all year around, we’ve really gone the extra mile to make it even more magical for children and families this Halloween.

“At North Devon Hospice, we’re all about making memories and our spooky trail presents the perfect opportunity to do just that!”

North Devon Hospice provides care for local people who are affected by cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.

As well as offering support at home, patients can also be admitted to their Bedded Unit when symptoms become more severe, for help with pain management and to make them feel as comfortable as possible when they need it most.

The hospice launched its Children’s Trail back in the summer with the hope of encouraging more members of the community to visit the hospice and gain a real understanding of what it’s like.

James added: “Seeing more families come to the hospice over the last few months and discover what a warm and welcoming place it is has been a real pleasure.

“We hope the spooky festivities will help to instil this even more, so please do come and see us!”

Admission to the ‘spooktacular’ Children’s Trail is completely free and dogs on a lead are also welcome. It will be open from 9am to 5pm from October 23 to 27, with onsite parking available. To find out more, call 01271 344248.
