Preparing the greens for finals day
Champions crowned after a summer of bowls
The finals of the North Devon Bowls League were greeted with a glorious day of weather and the hospitality shown by The Rock Park Bowling Club.
An earlier start than normal but Dougie had the green ready and there was a smell of bacon cooking for bacon baps.
In the semi-finals, Great Torrington A went down to a 42-71 defeat to United Services A, and Rock Park D beat Holsworthy A 69-27.
After lunch and the presentation of the league winners’ trophies, fans were treated to a very close and tense final before Division 1 Champions United Services A came out on top v Rock Park D, the Division 3 Champions, 52-41.
Congratulations to the League, which has seen 423 players compete through the season.
The League also played their second representative match of the season v The North Devon Ladies Triples League and thanks must go to Don Harris and Elaine Clements for their work in organising the day.
Great Torrington Bowling Club were superb hosts, kindly providing food on the day, ensuring all the monies from the draw, match fees etc enabled the sum of £250 to be donated to the host club's chosen charity ChemoHero - www.chemohero.org
