Great performances from young golfers at Saunton

Saunton Golf Club hosted their Junior Open and the young stars of the golfing future enjoyed some beautiful weather, which definitely contributed to some fine scoring on the day.

The overall winner was Ethan Batstone from Broome Manor GC, however there were some superb performances from some of the Saunton Juniors.

In the Boys Division 1, Archer Johnson and Ryan Rosser-Brown finished 3rd and 4th respectively. In the Boys Division 2, Joseph West won the Division followed by Adam Harrison in 2nd place.

Natasha Parsons won the overall Girls prize, and Zacara Singh won the Black Tee 18 Hole competition. The Black Tee 9 Hole competition was won by William Hampton.

Congratulations to all the Saunton Juniors for some very impressive golf.

On the senior side, Saunton triumphed 5-2 against Torquay in the semi-finals of the Still Cup and will now progress to the final against Okehampton on September 29.

Ilfracombe Golf Club is celebrating a fine summer after defeating Holsworthy at home in their final match of the Devon League season.

The result means Ilfracombe will progress to the semi-finals at Dainton Park on September 18, where a big test awaits all the players.

Dainton Park is situated just outside Newton Abbot and famous for a bruising start to the round, with the first green protected by water and the second fairway has a huge, uninviting lake, all down the left.

Navigate those two holes and the Ilfracombe players can breathe a sigh of relief in their quest for County glory.
