Fremington Ladies
Fremmy ready for the football rollercoaster
After years of wearing ‘hand-me-downs’ of the men’s used kit, Fremington Women FC are celebrating having their own brand-new kit thanks to their new sponsors, Penn Trust.
Following years of success on the pitch, having a kit of their own is something they have waited a long time for, as Assistant Manager, Jodie Dixon explains: “We are all passionate about women’s football and so to be recognised as a team in our own right and offer inspiration to young, female footballers in the area is so important.
“The Fremmy ladies are delighted with our new kit and this wouldn’t be possible without the support and sponsorship from Penn Trust. For years we have played in the Fremington Men’s used kit, so to have a kit that actually fits and is designed for females is fantastic.
“Our team has a fantastic ethos; we are a family all looking out for each other and this is replicated in the way we play and the results we’ve achieved. We are excited for the upcoming season in the new kit!”
Fremington Women’s Football Club was founded in 2018 and joined the first North Devon Women’s League in 2019. Achieving great results, they were promoted to the Devon League in 2022. After finishing third this season, they were offered promotion to the Premier Division of Devon Women’s Football League for the upcoming season.
Sponsors Penn Trust said “We are proud to support Fremington Women FC and everything they are doing to promote women’s football. We think the new kit looks fantastic and we wish them the very best for the 23/24 season.”
Fremington Women currently train on Wednesday evenings at the 3G Tarka pitch at Tarka Leisure Centre. Anyone interested in finding out more or joining the team, please contact Fremington Women through their Facebook page.
Fremington Women will take on teams from Bradworthy, Budleigh Salterton, Crediton United, Plympton, Teignmouth, Westexe Park Rangers and Stoke Gabriel in the league this season.
Fremmy travel to Bradworthy on September 10 for their opening fixture and then welcome Plympton Ladies for the first home game of the season a week later. It is going to be another rollercoaster ride of football.
Braunton FC Women are another side preparing for the new season and they demonstrated some huge quality in front of goal in defeating Paignton Villa 10-3 in a pre-season friendly in South Devon. The result was even more impressive, given the number of new faces in the team.
