Tough conditions for Appledore Instow Regatta

Appledore & Instow Regatta, the sixth regatta in the West of England ARA ten regatta Championship series, provided some unsavoury conditions on the river Torridge with showers and squally winds which at times gusted to force 4. This created the occasional choppy waters, which led to several capsizes.

The sixty-five entries necessitated 22 races over the 1,200 metre course with crews boating from Instow beach and spectators viewing the racing from Appledore quay.
