Stanbury and Bird shining in the professional arena

Billy Stanbury and Aaron Bird maintained their undefeated records with points wins at Abergavenny Market Hall on a fantastic night for Bideford boxing.

Stanbury moved to seven fights without a loss, winning every round in a dominant display against MJ Hall from Birmingham. Stanbury was superb from start to finish, showing great punch variation and hurting Hall on several occasions.

Stanbury said: “It was a big win for me in Abergavenny, taking every round on the scorecards, also taking me to seven pro fights undefeated. Thank you to each and everyone of you that bought a ticket and made the trip to come and support me, I hope you had a great night!

“And, as always, a massive thanks to my team and sponsors who have helped me train and prepare every week to get to where I am to be able to perform on the night. This fight has set me up for a spot on a huge show in September on the undercard of an English Title bout. I am now beginning to get recognised and talked about in the professional boxing world.”

Taking his boxing journey to a new level, Stanbury travelled to the USA in the past week to train at the famed Mayweather Gym alongside fellow Bideford boxer Dylan Burston. It was an amazing experience for both fighters and memories to cherish forever.

Not to be outdone, Bird moved to two fights undefeated, also winning every round against Daryl Sharpe from Manchester. Boxing patiently and picking his shots with tremendous accuracy, Burd frustrated Sharpe throughout and thoroughly deserved his victory.

Bird said: “We move to 2-0 and I boxed a guy who could go the distance with Mike Tyson. I hurt him on a few occasions and I felt very good in there. I'm living life like a pro boxer now and it's really paying off. Thanks to my sponsors and everyone, who came to support - onward and upwards.”
