Writer of psychological suspense Justine Pullan, pictured with her debut novel I’m Going To Find You, is returning to her North Devon roots with a talk at Barnstaple Library on October 9.
An acclaimed crime writer is returning to her North Devon roots next week with a special one off talk at Barnstaple Library.
JD Pullan aka Justine Pullan will be meeting fans and talking about growing up in North Devon on Thursday, October 9 at 2pm.
Her two psychological suspense novels have been well received, with her 2021 debut novel I’m Going To Find You reaching number one in New Zealand and number three in Canada and Australia.
Justine’s second novel I Know You Were There was published last year and is set on Dartmoor. It also recently reached three in the Australian lists.
The author now lives in Monmouthshire but still has many connections to North Devon – she grew up in Great Torrington, one of eight children and went to Bideford School and sixth form.
She said: “My first Saturday job as a teenager was in Torrington Library (three hours each week!) It was a long time ago now but I loved it and I am very excited to be returning to North Devon as a published author.
“A few years ago, when my parents moved from the family home in Torrington, where they had lived for nearly 50 years, I found a book I had written aged seven-and-three-quarters.
“Immediately it took me back to the kitchen table, felt-tips in hand, immersed in the joy of creative storytelling and I promised herself - right there and then - that she would write another.”
That led to I’m Going To Find You in 2021, about a young student vanishing from a Cornish beach in the 1970s and 34 years later, a woman realising what she witnessed as a child may hold the key to the mystery, but there are those who don’t wish the truth to be known…
Join Justine Pullan at Barnstaple Library on Thursday, October 9 at 2pm. Ticket are £3 and must be booked in advance from the library by calling 01271 318782.
