A touring exhibition of sculpture by some of the most prominent British sculptors of the last century opens at the Burton Art Gallery and Museum on July 15.

Revealing the Human Form features 30 sculptures by internationally renowned artists including Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Antony Gormley and Rachel Whiteread, who was the first woman to win the prestigious Turner Prize in 1993.

The works on display all form part of the Arts Council Collection and the British Council Collection, and the exhibition was produced in partnership with Banbury Museum and Gallery in Oxford.

Bringing together an exceptional selection of works never previously exhibited in North Devon, this exhibition marks a significant cultural moment for Bideford.

Exhibition and Collections Manager, Warren Collum said: “We are thrilled to announce a collaborative effort between Banbury Museum & Gallery, the Arts Council Collection, and the Burton at Bideford, bringing forth an exhibition of extraordinary significance here in North Devon.

“This momentous event delves into a captivating period in the rich history of modern and contemporary British art, showcasing a carefully curated selection of iconic works by globally renowned artists.

“By seamlessly amalgamating diverse representations of the human form, this exhibition not only ignites thought-provoking discussions on pressing contemporary issues but also captivates and inspires its viewers.

“The Burton remains committed to making art accessible for all to enjoy free of charge, and we encourage you to pay us a visit and take advantage of a unique opportunity to see some inspiring works of art.”

Revealing the Human Form officially opens Saturday, July 15, and runs until Tuesday, September 5. The gallery, museum and shop are open daily. Admission is free.

All are welcome to attend the Private View on Friday, July 14, 6-8pm.
