npower renewables has completed the purchase of Channel Energy Limited from South Molton-based Farm Energy. It means that Farm Energy will no longer have an interest in the Atlantic Array project announced last year to connect a 1,500-megawatt wind farm off the North Devon coast to the national grid. Its staff, however, will continue to develop the project under a management services agreement with npower renewables, the UK division of European renewable energy company RWE Innogy.A new company, Zero Carbon Marine Limited, has been set up to provide these management services.Farm Energy is a specialist wind power development company which originated the London Array offshore wind farm in the Thames estuary, which is currently the world's biggest wind farm with full consents.Proposals for the Atlantic Array project will be put to the Crown Estate in time for the next bidding round for leases to develop offshore wind farms early next year.
