Torquay United’s leading scorer Jordan Young, who sustained a broken nose in last Saturday’s 2-0 home win over Horsham, is fit to face National League South Play-Off rivals Weston-super-Mare at the Woodspring Stadium on Good Friday (3pm).

Manager Jimmy Ball confirmed that 15-goal Young has recovered from the knock and has trained fully this week.

The Gulls have no other fresh injury worries, although new loan signing Charlie Osborne (AFC Bournemouth) is likely to be held back until Monday’s home game against Bath City because of a niggling hamstring issue.

“We’re just being a bit cautious with him,” said Ball of the 20-year-old attacking midfielder.

Whichever way you look at it, this game at Weston is a big one.

Win or even draw, and a high Play-Off place beckons. Lose, and United might have to smash their last four games just to make the post-season.

Weston (8th) are a point behind United (6th) with a game in hand.

Ball took time out at Thursday’s weekly press conference to acknowledge the work done by his predecessor Paul Wotton.

“I like Paul. He’s put a great squad together that I’m very grateful to have,” he said.

The final pre-Easter training session was held on the Plainmoor pitch, and Ball told everyone the team for Friday and the bench before declaring: “No more talking. It’s time for action.”

Weston were frustrated by a 0-0 draw at home to Hemel Hempstead (3rd) on Tuesday night, in a game they dominated for long periods.

They built their season on a run of 12 wins in 16 games after losing at Hornchurch on Day One.

They may have been distracted by the departure of manager Scott Bartlett to Eastleigh and now Bath, as well as an FA Cup run that only ended in Round Three at Grimsby Town.

But Bartlett’s successor Scott Rogers, who has ex-United defender Gary Warren as his assistant, has guided the Seagulls through the last few months, and now not making the PO’s would be a big disappointment to them.

Possibly Weston’s most revealing ‘stat’ is that they have conceded only 12 goals in 19 home games, which prompted Ball to describe them as ‘a well oiled machine’.

Their defence is packed with experience and know-how, Luke Coulson has been garnering plaudits all season in midfield, ex-Chippenham winger Will Dawes is a threat on the left, while former Gulls loanee Louis Britton has enjoyed himself at this level, scoring 21 goals in all competitions so far.

United sold out their 850 allocation of tickets long ago, but there has been some concern that Weston were reported to be allowing fans to buy access to home areas on the day.

Any Torquay supporters found in those areas risk being thrown out, and everyone is hoping for as close to a trouble-free afternoon as possible.

In terms of obvious six-pointers, Friday’s programme isn’t as full as Monday’s when, top of the bill, Dorking host Worthing.

But in this most unpredictable of divisions, there are still some potential upsets, especially as this is a ‘derby’ weekend.

Leaders Dorking go to Horsham, Worthing entertain bottom club but local rivals Eastbourne Borough, Hemel Hempstead meet Play-Off hopefuls Chesham at Vauxhall Road, Hornchurch have a visit from Dagenham, Maidenhead go to Slough and Ebbsfleet travel to Tonbridge.

As a bit of background, AFC Totton’s 96th minute equaliser on Tuesday night appears to have been the last straw for big-spending Chelmsford City, who have sacked their manager Angelo Harrop.

Wasn’t it only five weeks ago that Chelmsford won 5-0 at Plainmoor to prompt the dismissal of Wotton?

And, following influencer KSI’s recent investment in Dagenham, it’s been announced that former QPR owner Tony Fernandes has bought a 40% stake in the club that was bought by USA’s Happy Fan Group last year.

Friday’s referee at Weston is Daniel Baines from Essex.
