The group will complete their final miles together at Princesshay
A team from Devon County Council is set to complete an 810-mile challenge in Exeter to highlight the urgent need for more foster carers.
Staff from Fostering Devon’s Promoting Stability Team have spent March walking, running and cycling the distance, with each mile representing one of the 810 children currently in care across the county.
The group will complete their final miles together at Princesshay tomorrow (31 March), marking the end of the month-long effort.
As well as raising awareness, the team has already raised more than £2,500 to support children and young people in care, with a target of £4,050 which will be match-funded to double the total.
Councillor Richard Jefferies said the challenge is a reminder that every child needs stability and a safe, supportive home, and urged more people to consider fostering.
The initiative comes amid a national push to recruit more foster carers, with Devon County Council encouraging residents to step forward and help support vulnerable children locally.
