Barnstorming Brixham batter Bideford in a statement performance at Wall Park

Brixham produced one of their most convincing performances of the season as they swept aside fellow strugglers Bideford 4–0 at Wall Park, boosting their fight for survival with an emphatic victory.

From the opening whistle, Brixham showed greater urgency and quality, punishing a below-par Bideford side and ensuring the points stayed firmly in Torbay.

The hosts threatened early on, with former Bideford man Jordan Ewing forcing a smart save from Jack Flower inside the first ten minutes. Aaron Wellington also signalled his intent early, sending a free kick narrowly over the bar as Brixham pressed for the breakthrough.

Bideford briefly threatened through Javan Wright, who had a couple of difficult chances – failing to connect with a Brad Williams pass before heading wide from an Alex Byrne cross – but the Fishermen were largely in control.

Brixham’s pressure paid off in the 29th minute. A deep corner found another former Robin, Ryan Beattie, lurking at the back post, and the defender rose to head home and give the hosts a deserved lead.

The visitors struggled to muster a response, with Farren Simons’ long-range effort sailing over the crossbar. Moments before the interval, Brixham doubled their advantage in style. Wellington stepped up to deliver a superb free kick that flew over the wall and beyond Flower’s dive to make it 2–0.

Bideford attempted to spark a reaction after the break, making three substitutions at half time. The changes briefly lifted the Robins, and they were handed a lifeline in the 54th minute when Ryan Turner won a penalty. However, Dan Gillard produced an excellent low save to deny Jamie Hearsey and preserve Brixham’s two-goal cushion.

That proved a turning point. The Fishermen almost added a third soon after when James De Selincourt’s header rattled the crossbar, while at the other end Jack Winsor’s deflected effort drifted just wide.

Brixham eventually put the result beyond doubt when De Selincourt was sent through on goal and, although Flower saved well, Cole Harford reacted quickest to nod home the rebound into an empty net.

The scoring was completed ten minutes from time when a high ball into the box caused problems in the Bideford defence. Wellington pounced from 12 yards to finish confidently and seal a memorable 4–0 win.
