The Lambs gradually settled into the contest, with Ethan Wright driving forward from deep before seeing a powerful shot tipped away.
Midway through the half Tavistock appealed for a penalty, but the referee waved play on, with Manor Farm immediately breaking upfield, and again testing Howard in an end-to-end spell.
The breakthrough came on 33 minutes when Tavistock took the lead.
Excellent link-up play saw Rhys Lindsell head a high ball back across goal for Sergii Ismail to finish from close range, capping an impressive debut with a composed strike.
The visitors defended resolutely for the remainder of the half, preserving their advantage despite late pressure to go in a goal ahead at the interval.
Manor Farm emerged strongly after the restart and went close within minutes, forcing Howard into another save as Tavistock struggled to clear their lines.
The pressure continued as the home side created a series of chances early in the second half.
The equaliser arrived on 68 minutes amid controversy.
Tavistock protested for a push on one of their defenders in the build-up, but play continued and Elliott Dugan slotted the ball past Howard to level the scores.
The closing stages saw Manor Farm push hard for a winner, pinning the Lambs back for long periods.
A late free kick from the edge of the area flew inches wide, while deep into stoppage time the hosts struck the post and saw multiple efforts scrambled off the line during a frantic goalmouth scramble.
Despite the late onslaught, Tavistock held firm to claim a valuable point on the road, their second in as many games, following a home result of the same scoreline midweek to Mousehole.
The Lambs return to action on Tuesday (17 March) night with a trip to fellow strugglers Bashley as they continue their fight to climb off the foot of the Southern League Division One South table.
