Exeter City must improve says Taylor

Matt Taylor was left frustrated

Exeter City interim manager Matt Taylor has admitted his side were left frustrated after the Grecians suffered a heavy defeat to Cardiff City at St James Park.

A double from Rubin Colwill, along with goals from Alexander Robertson and Callum Robinson, secured the win for the promotion-chasing Bluebirds and extended City’s run to 11 matches without victory.

Speaking after the match, Taylor said his team know they are capable of better.

“We are frustrated because we know we can perform better than that,” he added.

“We were OK at the start and were in the game without controlling the ball, but there were too many moments where we were in and around the action and they came out with the ball and really hurt us with that recycling of the ball into wide areas and back inside the pitch.

“We never got control of that in the first half. We changed shape to get through the back end of that first half.”

Cardiff’s ability to move the ball quickly and exploit space proved difficult for Exeter to handle as the visitors took control of the game.

Exeter City will now look to regroup as they aim to end their difficult run in their next fixture against Luton on Tuesday.
