Runners urged to back Path at Plymouth half marathon and 10K

A Plymouth homelessness charity is calling on runners of all abilities to lace up their trainers and join Team Path Power at this year’s Plymouth Half Marathon and 10K.

The event, which takes place on Sunday 17 May 2026, will see participants start and finish on Plymouth Hoe, following one of the UK’s most scenic race routes through the city’s streets and waterfront.

Path is encouraging both seasoned runners and first-time participants to take part while raising vital funds and awareness for people experiencing homelessness in the city.

Those who commit to fundraising for the charity will receive 50% off their race entry fee, a Path running vest or T-shirt for race day, and dedicated support to help them meet their fundraising targets.

Founded more than three decades ago, Path has been at the forefront of tackling homelessness in Plymouth, offering practical and compassionate support to people facing crisis. Its services include emergency outreach, housing advice, access to private rented accommodation and tailored resettlement support designed to help individuals move towards safe and stable housing.

With homelessness rising locally and winter conditions posing significant risks for those sleeping rough, the charity says fundraising initiatives like Team Path Power are more important than ever.

Funds raised through the Plymouth Half Marathon and 10K will help sustain frontline services that aim to transform lives and prevent long-term homelessness.

Darren, who was supported by Path, described the impact the charity had on his life.

“There were times I didn’t think I’d ever get off the streets. Path gave me a base, somewhere safe. I can cook, I can sleep, I can feel normal again. It might not sound a lot, but to someone who’s been on the streets for years, it means everything. Path gave me a place to live and a reason to hope.”

Jon, who has signed up for Team Path Power, said he had witnessed first-hand the growing need for support through his volunteering.

“I have been doing the Plymouth Soup Run for about 3 years now. In this time, I have seen first-hand the increasing need for support for homeless and vulnerable people. I am amazed by the fantastic work that Path do, to provide support for these people, many of them vulnerable, some with complex needs, but all just needing support. You never know who are you are going to meet on The Soup Run, but I am glad I can do my bit to give a something back to society and through running the Plymouth Half Marathon to raise funds for Path I am pleased I can do that bit more to help them with the amazing work they do to support those most in need in Plymouth.”

By joining Team Path Power, runners will not only take on a personal fitness challenge but also become part of a wider community effort to address homelessness in Plymouth.

More information about signing up and claiming a discounted charity place is available on Path’s website, where supporters can also find details on how to follow and share the campaign on social media.
