The independent day and boarding school, based in Tavistock on the edge of Dartmoor, said the course has been created in response to concerns from employers and universities.
A Mount Kelly spokesperson told The Moorlander the programme has been created at a time when “traditional academic pathways are not fully equipping young people with the entrepreneurial, digital and strategic skills required for the 2030 workplace.”
The Business School will be open to Year 12 pupils from September 2026, with applications open for entry now.
Pupils will study a core set of A Levels, including Business and/or Economics, alongside other subjects, while also taking part in a structured programme of professional development.
Areas of study will include artificial intelligence literacy, financial competence, project management, ethical leadership and wellbeing.
The school said the programme will also focus on communication skills, resilience and understanding how organisations operate.
In a statement, Mount Kelly said the aim is to “blend academic excellence with real-world professional preparation from day one”.
The school said the programme has been informed by research, including the Future of Jobs Report 2025 published by the World Economic Forum, which identifies growing demand for analytical thinking, technology skills and leadership.
Mount Kelly said: “The Business School has been designed backwards from industry need, integrating rigorous A Level study with structured professional development to ensure pupils graduate with both qualifications and genuine career readiness.”
Pupils will take part in enterprise challenges and explore case studies of international companies such as Zara, Netflix and Patagonia.
The school said guest speakers from senior leadership roles will provide insight into different industries, and pupils will have opportunities for mentoring, industry visits and support with CV writing and interview preparation.
The school said the new Business School is intended to complement university preparation, while also supporting pupils who may wish to move directly into employment or entrepreneurial ventures after Sixth Form.
Mount Kelly said places will be limited to allow for personalised mentoring and closer engagement with industry partners.
