The road was closed in both directions between Furzehatt Road and Mount Batten Way while crews responded and an investigation was carried out.

In a statement, Devon and Cornwall Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses and footage following a single vehicle road traffic collision in Plymstock.

“The collision involved a white Audi Q3.

“As a result, the driver of the vehicle was seriously injured and taken to hospital. A passenger suffered minor injuries.”

The road remained closed for a period of time while officers from the Roads Policing Team examined the scene.

Police thanked members of the public for their patience during the disruption.

Reports on the night have indicated that two occupants were cut free from the vehicle by the fire service, however, emergency services have not provided further details on this.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has relevant dash-cam footage, is asked to contact police via their website or by calling 101, quoting log 611 of 20 February.
