Rowcroft Hospice has welcomed two new trustees to its board, saying their combined experience across health, social care, business and the voluntary sector will help support the charity at a critical time for hospice care.
John Moore and Jacqui Lyttle have joined Rowcroft’s Board of Trustees, bringing decades of leadership experience and governance expertise.
John Moore joins with a varied career spanning engineering, entrepreneurship and community work. With a background in chartered engineering, he began his career in international manufacturing before leaving corporate life to grow and later sell his own business.
He later moved into health governance, spending nine years as a non-executive director at a large acute hospital trust in Bristol, chairing committees including audit and quality. He has also worked with charities supporting older people and helped establish a personalised domiciliary care service aimed at bringing joy and dignity to families.
“Rowcroft is a wonderful organisation that makes a massive difference to individuals and families,” said John. “After a serious accident, I experienced first-hand the value of great clinical and emotional care. This has given me a real appreciation of the holistic care that Rowcroft provides.
“As a trustee, my role is to encourage and support the executive directors, bringing fresh eyes and ears. I’m keen to use my experience in health, business growth, technology and governance to help Rowcroft achieve its goals.”
Joining the board alongside him is Jacqui Lyttle, who has more than 40 years’ experience in senior leadership roles across the NHS and voluntary sector. An accountant by profession, she began her career in manufacturing before moving into the NHS in 1985.
“What attracted me to Rowcroft was the opportunity to make a difference and use my skills, network and experience in a way that truly matters,” said Jacqui. “I bring a strong understanding of the NHS and the wider care system, particularly in planning, funding and service delivery.”
Alongside her NHS career, Jacqui has held a number of voluntary roles including nine years as Chair of AGE UK Torbay, Non-Executive Director at Torbay & South Devon NHS Trust and Livewell Southwest, and more recently Chair of East Cornwall Primary Care Network. She is also active in her community as a street pastor.
“I hope to help amplify the voices of patients and staff and support Rowcroft in building a sustainable future,” she added. “What makes Rowcroft so special, in my view, is its people and the amazing services they provide.”
Rowcroft said both trustees share a commitment to supporting the hospice’s mission and ensuring it can continue delivering compassionate end-of-life care in the years ahead.
"I am delighted to welcome John and Jacqui to Rowcroft’s Board of Trustees,” said Sally Scott-Bryant, Rowcroft’s Chair of Trustees. “Their insight, dedication and wealth of experience will help guide and support us as we continue our vital work, and I am confident that their contributions will make a real difference to the hospice and the people we care for well into the future."
