Alistair Reid, Chair DSRT Tavistock
It's very difficult to pick a highlight from 2025 as there have been so many positives.
If I had to pick one, it would be the continued willingness and enthusiasm of the team's volunteer members to give freely of their time, whatever the weather, day or night, to help someone on the Moor who is having a really bad day.
For 2026, obviously I want to retain that attitude and the skill sets we have.
The former is easier than the hours of training needed to achieve the latter.
We will also have our new general utility vehicle (a Toyota Hilux) fully operational after conversion, and we will need to start fundraising for replacing our second ancient Land Rover.
Finally, I must convey my thanks to West Devon Borough Council and Tavistock Town Council, plus many local businesses and above all individuals, for their very generous support to us over the year – we literally couldn't do what we do without you, and every little helps.
For those venturing on the Moor, stay safe, watch the weather, clothe and equip yourselves properly, and above all enjoy it. We are so lucky to live in such a wonderful location.
