A new Christmas market is set to open in Plymouth city centre this Thursday, 27 November, bringing stalls, food and festive activities to Armada Way and New George Street.
The event, running until Sunday 21 December, is being delivered by Market Place Europe, known for organising large Christmas markets across the UK and for their appearance on the Channel 4 programme Secrets of the Christmas Market.

The market will include decorated wooden chalets offering gifts, crafts, food and drink, with both local and international traders are expected to take part.
Steve Hughes, chief executive of the Plymouth City Centre Company, said that the market forms part of the city’s wider winter programme:
“This is a significant opportunity for Plymouth. The Christmas Market is set to be a cornerstone of our winter events programme, drawing thousands of visitors and celebrating the creativity and talent of our local businesses.”
He added that the market will be a worthwhile visit due to its changes this year:
“It will be different from previous years and we have the addition of the beautifully decorated real tree in Old Town Square and lots of entertainment up there and at the market.”
Mr Hughes also recently clarified the amount of stalls after speculation on social media, stating:
“The number of stalls this year is about 50. The intention is to grow the market over the next few years and extend up New George Street.”

Market Place Europe have said their Christmas markets typically increase visitor numbers and generate additional spending in host cities.
Andy Pidgen, Operations Director at Market Place Europe, said:
“We are thrilled to bring our signature festive market to Plymouth. Our goal is to create a joyful and immersive destination that not only delights visitors but also supports local business and drives city centre footfall.
“Plymouth’s vibrant atmosphere and coastal charm make it the perfect setting for a world-class Christmas market.”
