Tesco Tavistock launches Christmas Toy Appeal to support local children

Tesco customers in Tavistock are being encouraged to help spread festive cheer this year by donating toys to children who need them most.

Until 15 December, the Tavistock Tesco Superstore is running a collection for new, unwrapped toys, which will be distributed by the South West Family Hub Partnership to families across the local area.

The South West Family Hub Partnership works year-round to support children, young people and their families, offering access to financial, social, mental health and wellbeing support.

Store Manager Gary Wills said:

“We take pride in supporting our community during the year through Tesco Stronger Starts and our Community Food Connection programme.
“This year’s toy donation campaign is a fantastic way for customers to help local families and ensure children in our community have something to open on Christmas Day.
“We are so grateful to our customers who donate what they can to help bring a little festive joy to local families this Christmas.”

A dedicated donation point has been set up inside the store for shoppers wishing to contribute toys purchased in store.

Claire De Silva, Head of Communities at Tesco, added:

“Our stores are committed to supporting local children and their communities year-round, and thanks to the generosity of our customers and colleagues, the annual toy donation campaign is a wonderful way to make a difference at Christmas.
“It’s great to see Tavistock Superstore partnering with South West Family Hub Partnership this year to ensure that every child experiences the magic of Christmas.”

Last year, Tesco customers donated 125,000 toys nationwide, and the retailer hopes to exceed that total this festive season.
