Season wrapped up in the NDFL
Mick Tattersall from the North Devon Football League has penned a thank-you to all involved in making grassroots football possible in a season blighted by horrendous weather.
He said: “My day started at 12.30pm setting off to Woolacombe for a presentation, followed by a trip to Morwenstow for another presentation and getting home at 5pm after an 82-mile round trip was a hell of an achievement but very well received by both clubs.
“I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone behind the scenes that makes local grassroots football what it is, from Club Secretaries and Club Committees to Groundsmen and Club Volunteers. Without these people, players wouldn't be able to play the game we all love.
“Not to forget the NDFL League Officers and LMC, who give up their time to manage the league as volunteers, so players and clubs can play competitive league football locally. Never an easy task but we are growing with a few more new LMC's members coming in.
“And the players, without them, there would be no local football and with more younger players coming up, we all need to work together to keep this game going and making football stronger for the future, which will help your kids and grandkids play in this league, like you do or once did.
“For sure, this has been the most testing season of them all but we got there and finished it strong. Now we plan for 2024/25 with more changes, which I will announce in due course but clubs have been notified.
“Thank you to the supporters of local football, those who supported our cup finals and I am sure member clubs appreciate it too, keep supporting local football to continue.
“Finally to sponsors, not just those of the league but those of the member clubs too. It all those little things that help Leagues and Clubs continue forward, so please continue to help and support. Any businesses looking to sponsor, let me know and I will happily link you up with a local club.”
Congratulations to the following league champions:
Premier Division – Boca Seniors
Senior Division – AFC Dumnonii
Intermediate One – Morwenstow
Intermediate Two - Merton
Brayford Cup – Park United
