Brilliant Barum shine on the biggest rugby stage

Barnstaple RFC at Twickenham

The final result fell heartbreakingly against Barnstaple RFC but what a spectacular achievement and unforgettable experience for Barum to play at Twickenham.

Playing in the Papa Johns Community Cup Final, Barnstaple took on Heath RUFC from Halifax and the two amateur sides delivered an encounter that matched the entertainment of any international fixture played on this hallowed turf.

Heath scored the opening try on just two minutes but that just sparked an absolute epic, with Barum on the brink of victory when Tyler Gordon-Oke held his nerve to slot two late penalties for a 35-30 lead.

The Yorkshiremen, however, managed to find one last try in the final seconds to force an extra-time showdown, with the first team to score taking home the trophy.

Heath were the side to notch that match-winning try but nothing can take away from the achievement of Barnstaple RFC, you have made North Devon very proud!

Please enjoy these images by the wonderful Derek Parnell & Bob Collins from Barnstaple RFC.
