More than a thousand people took to the streets of Bideford on Sunday (May 11) for the annual Bideford 10k race in support of Children’s Hospice South West.
This year the event hosted by Bideford Amateur Athletic Club had an added poignancy as it was dedicated to CHSW co-founder Eddie Farwell, who passed away in March.
The course started and finished close to the Bideford Amateur Athletic Club clubhouse taking in the views of the Taw and Torridge estuary between Bideford and Instow.
The course heads out on the road on Instow and returns on the Tarka Trail. It is moderately flat with only two small inclines.
The fastest male finisher was Phil Norman of Woodford Green AC with a time of 30 minutes and 7.4 seconds. Ronnie Richmond of Bideford AAC was second in a time of 31:00.2 and James McKibbin of North Devon AC was third with 32:48.3.
Zoe Oldfield of Loughton AC was the fastest female with a time of 37:32.8. The second fastest female was Gemma Rous of North Devon AC with 39:55.2 and third was Miranda King of Bristol and West AC with 40:05.7.
