Vikings, merriment and much more saw the crowds flock to this year’s Northam May Fair.
The popular event had plenty for all ages to see and do, opening with a parade that seems to grow bigger each year, followed by displays and activities.

The fair was opened by the Mayor and Mayoress of Northam, Councillor Peter Hames and Veronica Leat, followed by the crowning of the May King and Queen.
The opening parade included Bideford Youth Pipe Band, Elite Majorettes, Vikings, fancy dress competitors, stilt walkers and many more.
Throughout the day visitors were entertained by Viking combat – including the opportunity to charge a shield wall for themselves – plus skilful displays by Elite Majorettes and Bubbles the Pixie was back with some amazing bubble and fire displays.
New for this year was a peoples’ choice motorcycle competition and display of bikes in Cross Street, plus a dog show at Bone Hill.
There was also more than 50 stalls, fairground attractions, Punch and Judy with Dave Hendy, the ever-popular traction engine rides and much more.
