Gareth Gates brings Boyband in the Buff to Torquay stage

Pop star Gareth Gates is bringing his hit show Boyband in the Buff to Torquay’s Babbacombe Theatre later this month, promising a high-energy night of nostalgia with a cheeky twist.

The former Pop Idol runner-up will take to the stage on Friday 27 February, with the show starting at 7.30pm.

Best known as one of the UK’s biggest pop stars of the early 2000s, Gareth Gates shot to fame on the first ever series of Pop Idol. His debut single Unchained Melody went straight to number one, followed by a string of chart successes including Anyone of Us (Stupid Mistake) and Spirit in the Sky. He has since sold millions of records worldwide and enjoyed a successful West End career, appearing in productions such as Les Misérables, Legally Blonde and Footloose.

Boyband in the Buff sees Gates team up with a cast of athletic, multi-talented performers for a tongue-in-cheek celebration of the golden era of boybands. The show features hits from acts including Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Take That, Westlife and Blue, combining slick choreography, tight harmonies and plenty of humour.

Promising more than a standard concert experience, the show delivers pop nostalgia with a playful edge, leaning into the fun, flirtation and fan-fuelled excitement that defined the boyband phenomenon. Audiences can expect big songs, bold routines and a healthy dose of cheek throughout the evening.

The show has proved popular with fans across the country, offering a feel-good night out for anyone who grew up with boyband posters on their bedroom walls.
