Young Torridge rowers fly Devon flag

TORRIDGE Gig Club youngsters flew the Devon flag in the Cornish county under-14s championships at Hayle and finished second in the Plate contest.

Twenty-two crews from 16 clubs took part in the competition, with Torridge the only Devon club competing.

Dan and Jack Blight, Alex Miles, James Wallins, Letitia Crowther, Bethany Cox and coxswain Jonathan Bowler had three good rows during the day, despite some of them having only been rowing for a couple of weeks.

The Torridge Club was also awarded the Joyce Gundry memorial Cup for promoting youngsters into the sport.
