THERE were no surprises at Town Lane where bottom side Woodbury lost by five wickets to third-placed Filleigh.

Filleigh knew that only a win would keep them in contention as they began the day 44 points short of Whimple in second spot.

Woodbury batted first and made their way to a respectable 220-9, led there by Tim Greenslade who hit 86 not out and got support from John Cooper (28), James Kavanagh (26_ and Adam Olesky (26).

Tom Marsh was the most successful bowler with 3-41 whilst James Hill and Ryan Bowden both bagged braces of wickets.

Marsh then hit the top score of the successful run chase with 64 and James Hill weighed in with 61. The third highest contribution came from James Marsh with 34.

Leaders Countess Wear did Filleigh a favour by taking a winning draw off Whimple, but there remains a 33-point chasm to bridge to steal the second promotion place.
