THE Mayor of Barnstaple is inviting party-goers to reach for their posh frocks and black ties at a special charity ball taking place in March.

Cllr Ian Roome’s annual fund-raiser takes place at the Barnstaple Hotel on Saturday, March 5 from 7pm.

Tickets include a three-course meal as well as entertainment by the ambient sounds of jazz band Dj Blue, followed by dancing to popular soul and funk band Sonic Fusion.

Guests will also have the opportunity to bid in a silent auction on the night and the Mayor said he was delighted by the donations already received.

“Some quite exceptional items have been donated by local business so far and I hope members of the public will buy tickets, come along and enjoy a really good evening, he said.

All proceeds will go to the Mayor’s charities for 2010/11, the Royal British Legion Barnstaple branch and Pathfield School.

Tickets are priced at 28 per person or 270 for a table of 10 and are available from Kate Elston at Barnstaple Town Council on (01271) 373311 or by emailing [email protected]
