Barnstaple Male Voice Choir brings fresh energy to the New Year

Rehearsals have resumed for Barnstaple Male Voice Choir on Monday nights at Fremington School.

The choir had a busy and successful programme in the run-up to Christmas including appearances at the Mayor’s Christmas Lights switch-on and North Devon District Hospital, and lively evenings at the Seagate Hotel in Appledore and the Hunters Inn, Newton Tracey.

The Choir’s Chairman, Tony Blake, said: “The New Year is always an exciting time for the choir as we learn new songs to introduce in the spring and summer concert season. We sing a great variety of music from soft ballads to rousing show tunes, but we are continually developing our repertoire. It’s also a great time to for us to welcome new members and enjoy the energy boost that singing together gives us.

At the its first practice of the New Year, the choir was pleased to acknowledge the long service of two of its members, John Preston and Steve Johnson, who received Life Membership Certificates from the Chairman, in recognition of the 15 years membership of the choir.

Anyone can join the choir and benefit from the joy of singing together and making new friends. No experience is necessary - if you have the enthusiasm and the ability to sing in tune then come along on a Monday evening to see if it's for you.
