West Down winners

THE village of West Down re-instated its 10k road race at its annual fun day and village fair on Saturday.

The race was over a new course this year and also included a four-and-a-half kilometre fun run.

Continuing the sporting theme there was also an inter-school football tournament.

Race winners were: 10k - 1, Michael Ayre (Landkey)40mins 49secs; 2, Andrew Stay (RMB Chivenor)41.09; 3, Peter Rigler (Dawlish)41.54. Fun run – 1, Sammy Watts (Barnstaple); 2, Pam Davidson (Ilfracombe); 3, Ben Rousseau (Shirwell).

Football: Under 9s – winners, Berrynarbor School; ru Ilfracombe Junior. Under 11s – winners, Ilfracombe A; ru, Berrynarbor.
