We're so proud of you

After a successful day with our Sixth Form celebrating outstanding results in A-level and BTEC qualifications, two days later Bideford College is pleased to report that their Year 11 students have also recorded some fantastic performances. Â
Top grades have been awarded in a wide range of GCSE’s and other Key Stage 4 qualifications completed this summer. Â
These results will enable students to move onto a wide range of further education courses or apprenticeships highlighting how hard work, dedication and commitment provides young people with the opportunity to succeed in their chosen field. Â
We are very happy that many of our students have chosen to continue their studies at the college studying a combination of the A-levels or BTEC’s on offer.Â
Exceptional performances were recorded by Josie Robinson, Maddie Marston and Alex Wright, who between them achieved 19 grade 9’s, the grade awarded in exceptional circumstances for the highest attainment in a subject. Â
Alice Allebone-Parish (4 grade 9’s, 3 grade 8’s, 3 grade 7’s), Ellie Smale (4 grade 9’s, 1 grade 8, 3 grade 7’s and a BTEC pass) and Dan Smith (3 grade 8’s, 2 grade 7’s, 3 grade 6’s and a BTEC distinction*) made the most progress, with their results far exceeding their target grades.Â
This year, following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the exam boards. The government is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges this year due to the varying impact of the pandemic.Â
Dr Claire Ankers, Principal of Bideford College, said: “The performance of all our students, despite the challenging circumstances of a difficult and disrupted year, is something that the college and our wider community are incredibly proud of. Â
“It highlights the resilience and commitment of the young people of Bideford who clearly have an exciting future ahead of them. The teaching and support staff at the college have worked relentlessly in order that all our students are able to enter the next stage of their careers with results that represent their abilities and hard work.”Â
