Lengthy delays are expected on the M5 this evening (Fri).
At about 1.05pm police were called to reports of a crash and it was shut from junction 22 at Burnham, down to Bridgwater.
Emergency services are on the scene and the road was closed to allow the incident to be dealt with, including releasing people from some of the vehicles involved.
All three lanes have now been reopened after a five-car collision and at this stage police are not aware of any serious injuries.
Northbound there is nearly 20 miles of tailbacks between Burnham and Taunton and delays of 1hr and 30mins are expected.
Southbound there is also 40-minute delays from Weston to Bridgwater.
