The concert by the Lewis Methyr Band in Ilfracombe on Saturday will now be held at St Peter’s Church in the town.

THE Ilfracombe concert by the world famous Lewis Methyr Band this Saturday has been moved to a different venue in the town.

Due to unforeseen circumstances the performance by the Welsh colliery band will now take place at St Peter’s Church in Highfield Road and not at the Holy Trinity Church as previously advertised.

The concert will still begin at 7.30pm and all other details remain the same.

The 30 strong Lewis Methyr Band comes to Ilfracombe fresh from the British National Brass Band Championships at the Royal Albert Hall.

Equally at home on the classical concert stage or in more intimate venues, the band has been inexistence for some 130 years and has a flexible repertoire covering classical and original music.

It can even produce a full promenade style program including transcriptions of major symphonies, overtures, concertos along with music specially written for such an ensemble by leading classical composers including Elgar, Howells, Vaughan Williams, Bliss, McCabe and Birtwhistle.

Not to mention all types of popular music, musicals, operettas, ballads, film scores and often the latest pop tunes.

The concert will include local supporting acts.

Tickets are 10 or 8, available from Tinker Tailor Party Shop or Hairport in the High Street or by calling (01271) 866647.
