Two wins in four days

THERE were two games in four days for a busy Barnstaple Swimming Club U17 water polo team – and two victories!

Barnstaple’s fitness and speed advantage told at home to Paignton, when they raced to a 17-1 win.

Ryan Lark led the scoring with four goals, followed by Morgan Roberts(3), Charlie Elliot and Haydn Lawson (2 each)and one apiece from Mike Taylor, Conor Heeney, Ollie Guest, Ryan Bennett, Nick Moore and Matt Bull, who swapped goalkeeping duties to come outfield in the final quarter.

They travelled to Exeter without main defender Josh Caton and conceded an early goal before pulling back to 2-2 at the end of the first quarter with goals by Michael Taylor and Haydn Lawson. Ryan Lark and Morgan Roberts put them 4-3 up at half-time and they then continued to extend their lead with further scores by Haydn(2), Michael Taylor, Sam Wordley and Morgan Roberts to go 9-5 up at the end of the third quarter and finished off with two more from Charlie Elliot and another from Taylor for a 12-6 win.
