Two Rivers Ensemble entertain in Barnstaple

THE Two Rivers Wind Ensemble continues to celebrate its tenth anniversary year with a concert at the Methodist Church in Bear Street, Barnstaple, on Friday, May 13 at 7.30pm.

All are welcome and the group play a variety of musical styles ranging from popular music, such as arrangements of Beatles songs through to film tracks, marches, and light classical music.

What began as an evening class for adults wishing to learn a wind instrument has grown from an initial six students to the current ensemble of some 30 members.

Musical director Gary Taylor began the evening classes a decade ago and continues to conduct the ensemble.

Members come from throughout North Devon and weekly rehearsals take place every Wednesday in Bideford. The music may be taken seriously but there is plenty of fun along the way and several social events are held each year, along with up to a dozen concerts.

New members are always welcome and anyone who would like to find out more can contact Mike Hawkins on (01769) 572039.
