Boca Seniors bag league and cup double and now have the treble in their sights

BOCA Seniors have made up for a rare season without silverware by winning their second trophy in less than a week.

On Tuesday, Darren Todd’s side officially relieved former champions Shamwickshire Rovers of the league title with a brazen 7-0 victory lap at the Pollyfield.

Scott Sharp found the net four times and there were singles for Mark Barrow, Richie Joslin and Brad Munden in what was an extremely sorry night for Shammy.

On Saturday, Sharp, Sam Stephens and Jake Crush all scored as the newly crowned champions beat Bideford Reserves 3-0 in the league, but on Monday, attentions turned to the Westward Ho! Cup – and old rivals Braunton.

James Davey and Matt Deakin scored the goals in a 2-1 win to see them lift the historic cup for the fifth time in six seasons.

With another league and cup double in the bag, they’ll get the chance to complete the treble when they take on Bradworthy in the final of the Brayford Cup on Saturday.

Kick-off at Marshford, Appledore is at 6pm.

Bradworthy improved their chances of avoiding relegation from the Premier Division with a 2-1 win at Torrington on Tuesday night. Bart Ochim and Danny Bryant scored the goals that lifted their side off the bottom of the table but on Saturday they were undone by Mark Gilfillan and Colin Woodcock goals in a 2-1 defeat at Ilfracombe Town Reserves. Tudor Placinta scored for the visitors.

Bottom side Putford must now win at home to Combe Martin on Saturday and hope that Bradworthy and Bideford Reserves slip up in their remaining two games.
