A group of local mum are hoping to appear on a prime television show

A GROUP of local mums may be appearing on ITV’s Daybreak as part of a new feature. was approached by producers of Daybreak to help them find a group of mums to take part in the show.

The show will be monitoring the drinking habits of mothers and asking those involved to give a ‘brutally honest’ account of their drinking.

This comes in conjunction with new government guidelines relating to alcohol consumption due out in February.

Nicola Green, who helps run the site, explained: “We ran a bit of a campaign on facebook to try and gather some interest and we had a great response.”

She added: “The producers were looking for a group of Mums to keep an alcohol diary for two to three weeks, and be brutally honest. They will do some filming with them and then ask them to go on the show to discuss what their diaries have revealed.”

“We have had some great response on this and it’s quite exciting. Whichever team of girls get through, the next stage would be meeting the producer, and then a

cameraman would go and film with the group.”

“They want them to do video diaries to record diary extracts of, for example, when they open a bottle of wine and why – i.e. to relax after a hard day.”

According to Nicole, when the new guidelines on alcohol consumption are out in February, Daybreak are planning to either invite all the mums and children to the London studio to appear live on show, or do a live broadcast from North Devon.

The North Devon 4 Mums website was set up by Faith Bleasdale, from Braunton, and Sarah Burns, who has now relocated to Borneo but keeps in regular contact with the group.

They found there was a need for an online resource for mums in North Devon with young children, and were joined by Nicola, from Yelland, who had been using the site since it began to find activities and local groups to join with her two children.

The group is hoping to hear from confirmation from the Daybreak producers this week.
