Barnstaple-bound service hits livestock near Lapford

RAIL services to North Devon were postponed earlier today (Tuesday) after a train crashed into sheep on the Tarka Line.

The 9.53am Exmouth to Barnstaple service hit an unconfirmed number of animals near Lapford.

A rail replacement bus service was put in place until the trains were able to run again, starting with the 1.53pm service from Barnstaple.

A First Great Western spokesperson said no injuries were reported other than those to livestock.
