IT was top three against bottom three in Division 1 of the North Devon Table Tennis League this week and the results mirrored the league positions.

Torrington A cruised through against Commodores, Misfits were also largely untroubled by Castle Knights although Peter Kneil only just scraped a 14-12 win in the fifth against Gerald Luscombe.

Holsworthy’s Dave Salisbury went to five games in two sets against Smugglers, but without reward. It was left to Len Weston to score Holsworthy’s sole point.

After weeks of close games in Division 2, there were three 9-1 wins this week.

Herons capitalised on the inexperience of the youngsters of Torrington B to reach the halfway stage of the season still unbeaten.

Bandits suffered at the hands of a strong Holsworthy team, who have opened up a gap for the runners up slot, although Mike Hill secured a creditable victory over Derrick Bond.

Untouchables are getting stronger as the season progresses and move into third place after defeating Dolphins.
