BIDEFORD Rifle Club’s hopes of retaining the North Devon League Division 1 title for an eighth successive year disappeared when their A team were held to a draw by Sidbury.

They cannot now overtake Tiverton A after they beat the Bideford B team.

Ann Travis tops the ladies’ individual table while Pete Thomson and Ben Morgan are second in the veterans and juniors respectively and Martin Morgan lies third in the overall championship.

Oli Bailey leads the Junior League competition with Ben Morgan currently in third.

Braunton A finish in second place in the DCSRA Winter League Division 3, beating the league winners Bideford once and drawing on the rematch.

Nigel Rowe took the club’s most improved title in the A team.

Braunton juniors Craig Attwood, Luke Smith, Kirstie Attwood and Toby Manfield all finished in the top eight of the County Junior League, with Craig taking the title and Kirstie finishing in third. The club’s overall most improved title went to Luke Smith, who shot in the Braunton B Team.

Kirstie Attwood finished in the top ten in the ladies league to secure a place in the Devon Ladies team.

Six members of the North Devon Junior Target Squad took part in the British Air Championships at Bisley, with Libby Johnson and Luke Smith reaching the Olympic finals of the pistol and rifle sections respectively.

Libby moved up a place in the finals to take fourth and Luke moved two places to finish sixth.

Ryan Hough was eighth in the Junior Men’s air pistol and took bronze in Class D.

Craig Attwood finished just outside the top ten, only three points behind Luke. Brothers Jack and Dean Bale both set new personal bests.

Dean and Luke Smith were part of the Devon County Air Rifle Team which took the bronze in the Inter county competition.

Kirstie Anne Attwood, taking part in her first senior women’s event finished in 10th place

The Devon County Scouts shooting squad is off to the Inter-County Shoot this weekend. The team includes seven North Devon scouts and one from Mid Devon.
