Join the Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra for a charity concert in Barnstaple on Saturday, January 25.
THE full Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra will be making its first public performance in North Devon on Saturday, January 25 at the Queen’s Theatre in Barnstaple.
Following appearances at the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Albert Hall, the young musicians are back on home turf with an evening of classic jazz plus modern arrangements as performed by the likes of Michael Buble.
Under the inspirational direction of Brian Moore, the orchestra has an amazingly sophisticated repertoire ranging from trad standards to experimental modern pieces. They combine youthful energy with a professionally sound.
Recruited from across the county, three come from North Devon – with Sam Norris on alto saxophone plus trumpeters Gareth Howell and Laura Wormington.
The concert is being sponsored by the Young Musicians Support charity and begins at 7pm, with all proceeds helping young musicians locally.
