Queen’s Theatre panto star waxes lyrical at Barnstaple salon

WIDOW Twankey raised her voice even higher than usual as “she” went along to Gold’s salon in Pilton on Thursday for a chest waxing before next week’s grand opening of the Queen’s Theatre Pantomime Aladdin.

Some of the costumes worn by actor Antony Stuart-Hicks, who plays the dame were proving a little low cut and he decided there was nothing for it but to face the ordeal.

To make matters worse, the “Evil Abanazar” aka David Phipps-Davis, went along to offer a little moral support, together with North Devon teenagers Meghan Lovering and Elisha Lawrence-Bardsley, who play villagers in the show.

Under the ministrations of beauty therapist Hannah Lovering “Twankey’s” voice definitely increased in pitch, but Antony took comfort in knowing he was suffering for his art!

Aladdin opens at the Queen’s Theatre on Friday, December 10 and includes plenty of fun, song and dance to entertain the whole family. For more information and tickets, call the box office on (01271) 324242.
