Yazzy Chamberlain wins another title at national contest in London

Teenager Yazzy Chamberlain from Westward Ho! has been crowned top songwriter in a national competition.

The 16-year-old was competing in the Future Music Songwriting Competition in London, performing live in front of a prestigious music industry judging panel.

Her original song Someone Could Be won them over and saw her win the under 18s age category.

After impressing the judging panel at the auditions, Yazzy went on to perform in the Songwriting Competition live Regional showcase and then the Grand Final.

The judging panel for the Grand Final included record label representatives from Sony and Universal, as well as representatives from music management companies, recording studios and professional songwriters.

Also picked by the judging panel as winners were Tom Auton from Cardiff, Wales who was crowned overall winner and Tabitha Jade from Wirral, Merseyside who took home the trophy for the Under 15s age category winner.

Yazzy has had previous success in the national music competition Open Mic UK and was crowned the under 16s Winner in 2014.
