An open afternoon with a top contemporary artist at Ilfracombes Driftwood Gallery has been hailed a huge success. Not only did plenty of people turn out to meet Dorset based resin painter Rozanne Bell on Sunday, but three of the four paintings commissioned for the event and inspired by Ilfracombe, were sold. An exhibition of her work continues at the gallery in St James Place for another two weeks and there is still time to pop down and discover her vibrant and colourful paintings. Novel, flamboyant, fun and with plenty of humour are all used to describe her detailed work, much of it inspired by seaside or natural scenes. Originally from Zimbabwe, but resident in Dorset for about 18 years she has developed a unique style which involves six or eight layers of resin, paint and texture to attain an extraordinary richness, transparency and depth of colour.
